Lewis Yale, aged 22, is concious following the accident in Dudley Road East, Tividale, near Oldbury, in the early hours of Sunday.

He remains in Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital today with a close relative saying he will have an operation to treat his facial fractures.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances of the accident which happened at around midnight.

Mr Yale was found seriously injured in a road after being struck by a car, possibly a silver Ford Fiesta, moments after getting off a bus.

Officers revealed that other motorists drove round him as he lay injured. An off-duty officer came to his aid.

One close relative, who asked not to be named, said: "He has been able to take a little walk so he is improving.

"He has done really well so far but he has still got to have a further operation on his face and nose."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police on 101.
