More roadworks for city centre
Motorists are set for two weeks of delays into Wolverhampton city centre after work began to install new high-tech street lights.
The left-hand lane on the A41 Tettenhall Road has been closed approaching the island at Ring Road St Marks, with restrictions continuing around the island and on towards Penn Road.
The work is being undertaken as part of the multi-million pound Sainsbury's development.
Restrictions will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm daily. The work is due to be completed on August 26.
A total of 26 LED street lights are being connected by Western Power.
Gurdip Thandi, spokesman for Wolverhampton City Council, said workers would be in place during off-peak travel times in order to minimise disruption to commuters.
Earlier this week, work also started to repair faulty phone cables on Penn Road, causing lengthy delays for motorists heading into the city and disrupting bus routes.
Workers from BT moved on to the road, between its junctions with Witton Road and Rookery Lane, in a bid to locate a fault that has left hundreds of residents and businesses without phone lines for more than two weeks. Business owners in the area have complained of a drop off in trade, with many saying they received no advance notice of the roadworks on Penn Road.
