Man charged with attempted murder after two injured in Brownhills crash
A man has been charged with attempted murder after a crash in Brownhills left two men injured.
Unemployed John Thomason stands accused of two counts of attempted murder, driving whilst disqualified and using a motor vehicle without insurance.
The 24-year-old, of Jarvis Road, Erdington, will appear before Walsall and Aldridge Magistrates Court this morning.
Thomason was arrested on Monday night, along with a 17-year-old girl, in connection with a collision on Hednesford Road at around 12.50am on Sunday 10 August.
Two men were taken to hospital following the crash, which saw a white van mount the pavement near to the Thai Lanna restaurant. The van was later recovered in Kingstanding.
One of the men, aged 42, has been detained in hospital with serious injuries, the other man was treated and released for minor injuries following the collision.
The teenage girl, who was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries, along with two men, aged 30 and 23, who were arrested on Sunday night.
DI Phil Asquith from Force CID said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who was in Hednesford Road near the junction of Wilkin Road in Brownhills on Saturday night into Sunday morning and who may have information about the collision to call police on 101."
