Wolverhampton man, 48, critically ill after attack
A Wolverhampton man was today in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked near to his home.

The 48-year-old was treated by paramedics at the scene and rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by air ambulance following the assault in West Avenue, Wednesfield, shortly before 11pm on Wednesday.
Part of the road was cordoned off by police while forensic officers examined the scene.
West Midlands Police spokeswoman Gina Lycett said the man was 'critical but stable'. The investigation is ongoing.
