Fire crews battle suspected arson attack at derelict Stourbridge pub
Fire crews battled to bring a blaze under control following a suspected arson attack on a disused pub.
The alert was raised at around 3am this morning as passing motorists saw smoke billowing from the former Bulls Head pub in Stourbridge.
Firefighters conducted a search of the building in Pedmore Lane after persons were reported to be inside. They discovered that several fires appeared to have been lit in various places around the two-storey brick-built property but found no one inside.
A West Midlands Fire spokeswoman said: "Crews came across holes on the first floor of the building which posed a massive risk to them. But they thought someone was inside so they sent in a team wearing breathing apparatus. Fortunately everyone was accounted for."
Crews from Stourbridge, Brierley Hill and Cradley attended the incident. The ground floor was gutted in the attack. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
