Police appeal for witnesses after armed robbery at Stourbridge bookmakers
Masked men wielding screwdrivers and a wooden bat have stormed a bookmakers and assaulted a member of staff before stealing cash.
Witnesses are now being sought after the incident at Coral on Lye High Street between 8.30am and 8.50am this morning.
Three men, described as white and who were wearing dark clothing and masks or balaclavas, went into the shop and threatened staff with their weapons. The men then assaulted one member of staff before making off with an unknown quantity of cash.
Dc Chris Smith from CID in Brierley Hill said: "Three masked men went into the shop, two of them jumped over the counter and assaulted a member of staff demanding cash, before escaping on foot with money.
"One staff member has received treatment at the scene for head injuries.
"Local police are carrying out forensics and ongoing inquiries at the scene, and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the robbery or anyone who may have information to contact us as soon as possible."
