Wolverhampton Tory campaigner joins UKIP
A Conservative campaigner has switched sides to UKIP - just days after a UKIP man went the other way to the Tories.
Tom Fellows stood for the Conservatives in council elections in Wolverhampton where he tried to win the Bilston East seat.
But he has now joined the Eurosceptic party.
The announcement comes days after 20-year-old David Mackintosh, who stood for UKIP in the Penn ward in Wolverhampton, moved to the Conservatives.
He had previously served as lead member of the West Midlands youth group for UKIP.
Mr Fellows, aged 67 of Wallace Road, has operated a transport business in Bradley for around 40 years.
Explaining his reason for joining UKIP he said: "The Tories have lost their way in Wolverhampton South East, with little or no representation of the electorate taking place for a long time.
"I joined the Conservatives because I thought they were moving more towards working people. That's not the case."
Shortly before the May elections former mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Malcolm Gwinnett defected to UKIP from the Liberal Democrats.
He kept his seat in Spring Vale, having won it previously for the Lib Dems.
