A series of tribute acts ranging from Lady Gaga to Olly Murs were due to perform at the Sing for Stephen event at Top of the World in Couture nightclub in Stafford tomorrow.

Lee Woodward, a friend of Stephen's, had been approached by Sam Lines, who runs an entertainment agency, after being touched by Stephen's Story.

But this week organisers revealed they had cancelled the show because of low ticket sells.

Ms Lines said: "We had very little take up on tickets despite an awful lot of effort."

The event was mentioned to 19 year-old Stephen from Burntwood before his passing and he gave his backing to the concert to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Stephen helped to raise £4 million for the charity before his death.

His inspirational story inspired the country and saw thousands of people flock to Lichfield Cathedral to attend a two-day vigil in his memory.
