Man charged after more than £15k worth of pushchairs stolen from lorry

A man has been charged with stealing pushchairs worth more than £15,000 from a lorry parked at a motorway service station.

The sides of the lorry were slashed at Hilton Park Services on the M6 near junction 11 for Cheslyn Hay and 70 Silver Cross pushchairs were taken at about 5.15am on Friday.

Another lorry driver who witnessed the theft called the police and officers from the Central Motorway Police Group.

Antony Donnelly, 36, of Imison Street, Liverpool, was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, taking a motor vehicle without the owners consent, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.

He has appeared at Newcastle-under-Lyme Magistrates Court. He did not enter a plea and will now appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday.
