Road closed and man injured after lorry and car collide in crash

A car and a lorry collided today forcing the closure of a South Staffordshire road.

A driver in his 80s was treated by paramedics following the smash.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were all called to Duck Lane in Codsall following in the smash. The driver of the car, a silver Ford Fiesta, was checked over at the scene by paramedics but was not taken to hospital.

The lorry driver was not injured in the smash, which happened close to the village's fire station.

Sarah Davison, spokesperson for Staffordshire Police, said emergency services were called at 10.30am today.

"Two vehicles had been in collision near to the fire station on Duck Lane, Codsall," she said.

"The ambulance checked the car driver, a man in his 80s, over at the scene but there were no serious injuries."

Firefighters from Tettenhall and Wolverhampton attended. The road was closed while the scene was cleared, and was reopened at around 11.15am.
