Fun day in memory of Stephen Sutton raises £3k for cancer charity
A classic car and motorbike fun day organised in memory of Stephen Sutton has raised more than £3,000.
More than 700 people attended the event at Stephen's old school, Chase Terrace Technology College.
There was a range of classic cars and motorcycles at the school as well as a series of auction items.
The day was organised by Year 11 pupil Connah Anslow and teaching assistant Kim Tonks.
In total £3,004 was raised and a further £400 on a holiday to Mallorca raised through a silent auction.
Miss Tonks said: "The day was very relaxed and everyone from stall holders to the public all came and congratulated us on a lovely day.
"So it went really well, we took £1,400 just on the gate so there were over 700 people who attended."
The money was raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust via Stephen's Justgiving fundraising page.
The 19-year-old inspired the nation and raised more than £4 million for charity with his amazing attitude in the face of terminal cancer.
Rather than dwell on his misfortune, the teenager drew up a "bucket list" of things he wanted to achieve before he died.
This led to him completing a skydive and playing drums in front of 90,000 people before the Uefa Champions League final at Wembley last May, among various achievements.
Thousands of people attended a two-day vigil at Lichfield Cathedral before his funeral.
He was also made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours last month.
