The silver BMW was travelling along Dudley Road East, between Tividale and Oldbury, when it came off the road near to Meadows Sports College at around 9.30pm last night, turning on its side and hitting a tree.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called and arrived to find part of the vehicle in flames.

Police say the women, aged 18 and 22, were taken to hospital and are in a serious but stable condition.

Officers are now trying to find the driver of the car.

Watch Commander at Oldbury Fire Station Matt Payne said it looked like the driver had left the scene.

"We arrived at the same time as the police and the vehicle was well alight," he said.

One Dudley Road East resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was serious. It looks like the car was coming over the bridge when it lost control.

"Emergency services were here for a while it was all cleared up.

"You can tell by the damage caused by the impact how serious this was."

Anyone with information can call police on 101.
