The doors are now open on the flower festival at St Mary's and St Luke's Church, in Shareshill, near Wolverhampton.

The show has been more than eight months in the planning, organisers have said, and is expected to be one of the highlights of the village's social calendar.

Spokeswoman June Lloyd said: "The theme of this year's show will be the four seasons and there will be some great flower displays on show.

"This started off as a mini flower show but it's really grown and a lot of hard work has gone into it."

This year's festival has also been given an extra 'buzz' with one of the displays containing real-life bees.

The flower festival opened today and will be open again tomorrow from 10am to 5pm.

Tomorrow evening there will be a garden party, followed by a performance by the Cannock Chase Orpheus Male Voice Choir at the church at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be bought by calling Chris Shaw on 01922 413864.

The flower festival will reopen again on Sunday from 11.30am to 5pm.
