Four people treated after crashes across the Black Country
A van overturned on the M6 during rush hour today causing miles of tailbacks.
Traffic queued back to junction 7 for Great Barr following the accident at around 6.40am between junction 10 for Walsall and 10a for the M54.
Bosses at the Highways Agency said there were delays of up to 30 minutes on the M6.
The crash happened on the northbound side of the motorway at around 6.40am. Two lanes had to be closed while the van was recovered and debris moved from the road.
Highways Agency spokesman Stuart Thompson said: "We got the call at about 6.45am to a van that had overturned. It was blocking two lanes.
"It has been causing delays of up to 30 minutes."
Staffordshire Police spokeswoman Faye Casey added: "We received reports just after 6.40am of a white van that had overturned. There was debris on the road. We passed the incident over to the Highways Agency."
The van driver suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics on the side of the road but did not need to go to hospital. One ambulance was sent to the scene.
Meanwhile a major road into Wolverhampton was blocked today after a crash between a car and a motorbike.
just before 8am this morning following the collision.
Two ambulances also attended the scene of the crash, which happened at around 7.45am.
A male motorcyclist was taken to New Cross Hospital with rib, leg and ankle injuries.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker said: "The rider was wearing full protective clothing.
"He received treatment at the scene before being taken to New Cross Hospital."
Two people were also taken to hospital as a precaution following a crash in Wombourne last night.
Two cars – a black Renault Megane and a blue Vauxhall Zafira – had collided with each other at 9.45pm on the A449 at the junction with Gilberts Lane, and a woman had to be cut free from the wreckage.
Mr Hawker added: "We had two ambulances and a paramedic on scene. The roof had to be removed by the fire service and both patients were taken to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
"They were complaining of back pain so were extricated from the car as a precaution."
The road was closed for around an hour before reopening at 11pm.
