Stephen Sutton concert to feature stars of pop and comedy
A concert in memory of Stephen Sutton will be held at Birmingham's LG Arena, it was announced today - with some of the country's biggest pop stars and comedians expected to appear.
The Smile for Stephen show at the 15,000-seat venue will be in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, which the 19-year-old raised more than £4 million for.
The first acts will be announced over the coming weeks for the show, which is being organised by Free Radio.
Bosses say they hope to attract the likes of Olly Murs and The Saturdays, who have performed at the radio station's annual concerts.
Stephen's mother Jane said: "This is a really exciting opportunity to not only celebrate Stephen's life, but to also keep the campaign going, and will help to raise lots more money for such a fantastic cause.
"We've been overwhelmed by the continued support from the public, it's clear that Stephen's Story touched so many people."
It comes the single Hope Ain't a Bad Thing, by Martin Stanyer, reached number 16 in the UK Top 40.
The song was recorded at New Road studios in Burntwood.
Tickets for the gig on November 30 went on sale at 8am today priced at £35 including booking fee, and are available from www.freeradio.co.uk or theticketfactory.com
