Police have now revealed a CCTV image of a man they believe may have witnessed the incident.

Four men entered Asda, New Road, Kidderminster and told staff to put their hands on their heads.

One of the men grabbed a member of staff and dragged him to the safe, threatening to shoot him, and made him unlock it.

No gun was seen although one of the men was armed with a claw hammer.

They took cash and the six staff were then led to a freezer in the warehouse, made to empty their pockets of their wallets and phones, and shut inside.

CCTV has shown a man cycling on to the car park about two minutes after the offenders left at about 10.20pm on June 2 and it is believed he may have seen them drive away in a silver Seat Leon hatchback. He was wearing a red short-sleeved top and jeans and his bike possibly had some green on the frame.

The offenders had Black Country accents. Three of them were wearing black hoodies and the fourth a grey hoody. All four wore black scarves across their faces and black gloves.

They made off up New Road the wrong way to the Worcester Road roundabout.

The Seat Leon the offenders were using was found abandoned in Harold Evers Way, Kidderminster, on June 4.

Dc Jake Wright of West Mercia Police said: "The cyclist in the red top who rode across the Asda car park moments later is potentially a key witness as we believe he may have seen the offenders drive off.

"We are appealing for him or anyone who recognises the image to contact us on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 756-s-020614 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
