The A457 Sedgley Road East was described as a 'Raging River' by residents when a 12 inch water pipe burst under the road in the early hours of Tuesday May 27.

At the height of the flood cars and vans were struggling to make their way through the torrent and had to be helped by homeowners.

The pressure of the water pushed up the pavements leaving them resembling a rolling sea and stones and soil from underneath were washed down the road.

For the last week workmen from South Staffordshire Water Company and Sandwell's Highways team have been digging up the road near to the junction with the A461 Dudley Port to get to the damaged pipe and have repaired pavements damaged during the flooding.

Motorists were warned about traffic delays in and around Tipton while the emergency work was carried out on a burst water main. Diversions have been in place easing the traffic flwo between Tipton and Tividale and businesses on the neighbouring VaughnTrading Estate have been able to access the site via Tipton Road.

The burst pipe also caused a drop in waster pressure to homes and also caused a cut in supply to the 45-acre trading estate.
