The track, which is called Hope Ain't a Bad Thing, has been composed by 40 musicians from Burntwood.

The Neon Brotherhood, who belong to the Neon Sound Studios in Burntwood, are donating all proceeds from the track to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Posting from Stephen's Facebook page, his mum Jane said: "I would first of all like to thank everybody for your kind words over these last few weeks. The love and support that myself, Chris and the rest of Stephen's family have received has been tremendous.

"Last weekend, The Neon Brotherhood comprising of 40 fantastic musicians from Neon Sound Studios in Burntwood, who either knew Stephen, rehearsed with him, or were just simply inspired by him, came together to write and record a charity single in Stephen's memory.

"After four days of hard work and determination, the single, entitled 'Hope Ain't a Bad Thing', has now been made available to download online."

She added: "I would personally appreciate it if you could click the link below to purchase this song and let's all get it to No. 1"

The five-minute rack costs 79p and can be downloaded on iTunes.

The release comes days after a two-day vigil saw more than 10,000 people pay their respects to the 19-year-old at Lichfield Cathedral.

Stephen's fight with cancer inspired people across the world and he has so far raised more than £4 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
