Hugh Grant visits Staffordshire rugby club
Superstar film actor Hugh Grant today brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to Staffordshire during a visit this afternoon.
The heartthrob star of classic movies Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral visited a rugby club to unveil a community first responder vehicle.
The multi award-winning actor charmed an assembled audience of 200 people who packed into a marquee at Burntwood Rugby Club.
Grant, who also starred in About a Boy and Bridget Jones's Diary, made the special appearance because of his association with Burntwood and District Community First Responders chairman Paul Dadge.
Looking smart in a dark grey suit, Grant spent several minutes talking to the adoring crowd.
He said: "It's very nice to be here. I've never done any kind of opening before.
"I'm enjoying it already. You might wonder why I'm here. So am I. I got 'Dadged' - I can't seem to get him out of my life.
"He's been on and on at me for years trying to get my help. I have done absolutely nothing about it.
"The least I can do is undress this car for him."
Grant unveiled the car before handing out awards to groups and companies who support the first responders in Burntwood.
He also posed for pictures with fans and said it was his first time at an event such as this.
Guests included community first responders, police, councillors and members of the local community.
In recent years Grant has become renowned for his fight against the phone hacking scandal.
