Prison worker among four in court on Featherstone drugs charges

Three men and a woman have appeared in court charged with a conspiracy to deal drugs inside a South Staffordshire prison.

Ricardo Edwards aged 30, Andrelle Leedham, 25, Christopher Lewis, 37, and Hannah Louise Stewart, 27, all appeared at Cannock Magistrates' Court yesterday.

They are accused of conspiring with the throwing/bringing of class A drugs and the supply of class B and class C drugs inside HMP Featherstone between March 2012 and November 2013.

Stewart, who worked at the jail, is also charged with holding of a public office while wilfully neglecting to perform duty/wilfully misconducting herself.

She is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with an inmate and using her position to further the conspiracy .

Edwards, who is currently serving in HMP Oakwood prison and Lewis, who is in prison at HMP Stafford, appeared in the dock and only spoke to confirm their names.

The pair didn't enter a plea.

Leedham of Thompson Avenue, Blakenhall, Wolverhampton also didn't enter a plea and was granted bail.

Stewart of Oaks Drive, Featherstone only spoke to confirm her name and was granted bail by magistrates.

The four are due before Stafford Crown Court on July 25.
