Three men were arrested following the disturbance, while a man in his 50s was taken to hospital after suffering an injury to his hand.

Armed officers were seen to be standing outside the site on the A449 Stafford Road near Penkridge.

They were called to the scene at 1.45pm but left two hours later after arresting three men aged between 22 and 35.

Force Duty Officer John Townsend, from Staffordshire Police, said: "We were called to a disturbance at a caravan site in Penkridge just after 1.45pm on Sunday.

"Because of the information we had that one of the men involved had a bladed weapon, weapon response officers were sent to the scene.

"Three men aged between 22 and 35 were arrested and remain in police custody at this time for questioning.

"A man in his 50s suffered a hand injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"The incident did not involve anyone from outside the site and there was no risk to the outer community."

Kirsten Rawlins, 22, of Wheaton Aston, said: "As I was leaving my boyfriend's house on the a449 an unmarked car zoomed past us with its lights flashing and siren sounding, travelling extremely quickly in the direction of Gailey.

"A few moments later I was driving out of the village on the A449 towards Rodbaston and saw the unmarked car, as well as some four to five marked cars at the entrance of the site on the outskirts of the village.

"There was an officer standing guard and a group of people had gathered on the opposite side of the road to see what was happening. It all looked very dramatic.

"I've not seen anything like that there before, I drive past there a lot and it's usually quiet. It's not the sort of thing you would normally see in Penkridge either."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
