14-year-old boy arrested after pensioner left needing surgery in car jacking attack
A fourteen-year-old schoolboy has been arrested after an 84-year-old man was dragged from his car during a terrifying attack that left him with a fractured hip and needing surgery.
Michael Green was leaving the Trumpet Pub, in High Street, Bilston, at around 11.30pm when the gang dragged him from his car. The thieves then stole his car and dumped it some ten minutes later off Ettingshall Road.
Mr Green was rushed to hospital and had to undergo surgery for a fractured hip sustained from the assault.
The victim's family made a heartfelt appeal for information and today a 14-year-old local boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Pete Dunn, said: "I am overwhelmed by the amount of support people have shown following the appeal.
"From their information we have been given several leads and today a teenager was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
"This was a terrible act of violence and I am determined to find the people responsible. I would still like to appeal for information ? this could have been your father or grandfather and we need to find those responsible.
"I am keen to hear from anyone that witnessed the attack or from anyone who saw these people run from the car.
"No matter how insignificant you feel your information is I would urge you to call me or one of my team on 101.
"Mr Green still continues to make a slow recovery in hospital and the family have been informed of the latest development."
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on April 12 and bailed pending further enquiries.
