Arsonists strike at Enville woodland

A woodland has been targeted again by arsonists - almost three years since vandals torched trees causing £100,000 of damage.

More than 30 firefighters were called to Million Wood, between Enville and Kinver, near Stourbridge, to tackle the blaze at its height on Sunday night.

Today, scorched undergrowth and fire damaged trees remained as fire service officials issued a warning to firebugs as the school holidays started.

It comes after a blaze burned at the private wood, off Chester Road, managed by the Enville Estate, for around six days in May 2011.

Bosses at the commercial wood, which is not open to the public, told numerous trees would have to be felled following that fire three years ago.

This latest blaze was tackled last night by firefighters from six stations across Staffordshire and the West Midlands.
