Elderly man seriously injured after car hit parked vehicle in Sedgley
An elderly man was seriously injured when he was knocked to the ground after a car hit his parked vehicle.
The 79-year-old man was said to be putting shopping into the boot of his car when it was appeared to have been shunted by another vehicle in Brownswall Road, Sedgley at 11.45am yesterday.
Police say he was knocked backwards to the floor after the collision and suffered a head injury as well as cuts and bruises to his shoulder.
An ambulance took him to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley, where he remains a serious, but stable condition.
Police closed the road while investigations were carried out at the scene.
The route was reopened at 1.50pm.
The driver of the vehicle was spoken to by officers at the scene.
A passer-by at the scene who didn't want to be named said : "The man seemed okay, he was talking while on the floor before being taken to hospital.
"I heard a car revving and looked and saw a man on the floor and called 999. We went over to check on him, he was talking while on the floor and emergency services then arrived to take over. I hope he is okay."
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: "A 79-year-old man was knocked to the floor by a slow moving vehicle. He suffered bruising and cuts to his shoulder and rib pain. He also had a minor head injury and was taken to Russells Hall Hospital."
The air ambulance from Cosford was called to the scene but was stood down as it was not needed.
