A butcher from Wolverhampton has scooped £100,000 from a National Lottery Scratchcard - and this afternoon revealed he can't wait to use the cash to replace his car.

Robert Pardoe, aged 57, only brought home the bacon because he purchased the card to give his 18-year-old daughter Laura change from a £10 note.

Father-of-three Mr Pardoe, who works at Morrisons in Telford, won the six-figure sum on March 24 but says he had to get several members of his family to check if he was a winner.

He was presented with the cheque at Molineux this afternoon by Wolves legend Steve Bull, who surprised the butcher by emerging from the dugout.

The grandfather bought the ticket at Sainsbury's in Compton and had forgotten he had even purchased it.

He said: "I went home and after an hour or so I remembered the Scratchcard, so I found it in my coat pocket and checked it. I looked, then looked again and couldn't believe my eyes."

Mr Pardoe has kept the winning Scratchcard in his wallet and has said he wants to treat his family with his winnings.

He said: "I've got an old Vauxhall Astra but it has been a good car so I'll upgrade to an Insignia. I'm going to look after the children and I think we'll have a holiday as a family, and then I don't know what to do with the rest, but there's no rush."

Reporter Adam Thompson tweeted live from the event:
