Parents organise special event as they aim to raise £2k for Henry
A mother of four is organising a special event to raise cash for a £2,000 helmet for her son.
Henry Hatshorne, of Hednesford suffers from plagiocephaly - flat head syndrome - and has already started wearing the new helmet to help re-shape his head.
The 11-month old, who has a twin brother Sebastian, developed the condition after being born with torticollis, meaning his head would get stuck when he turned a certain way.
He has to wear the helmet for 23 hours a day, only taking it off for half an hour in the morning and at bath time.
But now his parents, Nicola and John, hope to raise the cash to pay the company who have kindly donated the helmet early.
Mrs Hartshorne, aged 33, said: "When Henry and Sebastian were in the womb there wasn't much room and it seems that Sebastian was being a bit of a starfish and pushed his brother out of the way.
"After lots of physiotherapy, his condition didn't improve and when we went to see a consultant at New Cross Hospital, he told us that his head wouldn't go back to normal size on its own.
"That's when we found out about the helmet from a company called Technology in Motion and, thankfully, they gave us one before we had the cash to pay them.
"If I had the money I would hand it over now but I don't so that is why my husband John and I are organising events and fundraising."
The couple have organised a cake and craft sale at the Hen House in Eskrett Street, on April 10 at 7pm.
There will also be a raffle.
Mrs Hartshorne added: "So far we have received £300 in donations through my Just Giving page but we still have a long way to go.
"I hope I will be able to bring Henry along on the evening so that he can meet everyone because he is such a happy chappy.
"He never gets fed up or angry because of his helmet he just takes it all in his stride."
