Amira Basharat, aged 15, was last seen at her school, King Edwards VI in Lichfield, at midday on Monday.

The teenager, from the village of Hoar Cross near Burton, is described as Asian, 4ft 10ins tall and has very long straight black hair.

She was wearing school uniform consisting of a white shirt, black blazer, black skirt, black tights and black shoes.

Police say she caught a train from Lichfield to Birmingham on the day she went missing.

Insp Rob Neeson, of East Staffordshire Local Policing Team, said: "We consider Amira to be vulnerable due to her young age and as time passes our concern for her safety is increasing.

"We are working closely with colleagues from West Midlands Police to locate her as we believe she caught a train from Lichfield to Birmingham at around 1.20pm on Monday.

"It is likely she is in the Birmingham area as this is where she originates from."

Anyone with information should call Staffordshire Police on 101.
