The Junior Masters Golf Championship will be held at Lichfield Golf and Country Club from April 12 to 15.

Funds raised through youngsters signing up and paying a registration fee will go to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Youngsters, aged between five and 17, will play 36 holes over the four-day tournament.

Prizes, including £100 in gift vouchers, will be given to the winners and everyone who takes part will be handed a trophy and certificate.

Colin Thompson, director of Clever Duck Media, which is organising the tournament, said: "We've got 32 kids signed up so far and another 20 have shown an interest.

"A percentage of the registration fee they pay will go to charity and we are expecting to raise a few thousand pounds. At the same time in America the professional golfers are doing their own masters. It gives the kids chance to experience what that is like. We've launched the event this year and have secured sponsors over five years. In the fifth year, we are hoping to take the tournament international to another country. We think it will add glamour and fun to the golf tournament for juniors.

"Everyone who takes part will also be given a trophy and certificate. We want to make the kids happy by rewarding them."
