The compartment on the back of the cab was left bent and ripped open after the smash, which happened outside Sandwell and Dudley railway station at just after 9am.
Police were called to the scene, on Bromford Road in Oldbury, at around 9.15am, and partially closed the street while the lorry was moved to a side street to await recovery.
The bridge was undamaged, and line operator London Midland said it was reopened at 'full speed' around 10 minutes after the initial incident. Only one train, between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, was delayed by around 10 minutes.
The driver of the lorry was not hurt.
