Environment Agency workers started taking down barriers at Beales Corner yesterday, placing the heavy metal beams on a forklift truck for transport.
But some of the defences were left in place as a precaution due to more rain being forecast for today.
Removal of the barriers allowed historic Bewdley Bridge to be re-opened to traffic at 2.30pm yesterday after being closed for around a fortnight.
Bus routes using the road have also been re-instated. Agency officials said all of the defences in Severnside South would be removed today.
Barriers are also being lowered along Severnside North.
