Steven Parkes, aged 34, claimed he not seen rider Antony Corbett when he turned out of a junction on Birmingham New Road, Coseley.

He denied causing the death of Mr Corbett, 27, by careless driving and stood trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court. A jury of nine women and three men took two hours and 28 minutes to find him not guilty at the conclusion of the three day case yesterday.

Mr Parkes was emotional as he left the dock.

The court was told Mr Parkes, of Cobden Street, Stourbridge, was turning right into Ivyhouse Lane near the McDonalds restaurant when his white Volkswagen van drove into the path of the cyclist on October 25, 2012.

Witnesses had told jurors they thought Mr Corbett's Yamaha motorcycle was travelling quicker than the 40mph limit but police said the impact itself was at 'low speed'.
