The decision to fell the trees at Tettenhall College was approved at a meeting yesterday.

The trees, which run along Wood Road and Henwood Road, fall within the Tettenhall Greens Conservation Area and many are covered by a preservation order.

But documents lodged with Wolverhampton City Council say they are damaged by age and should be removed.

The documents state: "The los of the 30 trees is acceptable as part of effective long-term management of this important area of woodland.

"The trees concerned, due to age, ill health, poor form, or damage, are unsustainable and their removal would represent good management. Their loss would have a relatively minor impact upon public amenity."
