Pensioner held at knifepoint in Wolverhampton daylight robbery
A pensioner was held at knifepoint by two robbers in a 'terrifying' broad daylight attack on a main Wolverhampton road.
The victim, 71, was walking along Tettenhall Road with his wife when two men grabbed him from behind and dragged him to the floor.
One threatened the man with a knife while the other searched him and stole his cash and jewellery.
The brave pensioner tried to chase down the robbers who fled to a nearby blue Toyota Celica before driving off.
Police believe identifying the car by its registration – which included the letters SOE – could help officers yield vital information as part of the investigation.
Detective Constable Mike Sanders, of Wolverhampton Police, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the man who was walking with his wife along Tettenhall Road near to Grafton Court.
"Fortunately he was not seriously hurt and was able to supply a good description of the men and the car involved.
"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, the men or the car before or after the robbery to call me."
"If you know of anyone who has been trying to sell jewellery which matches the images then I want to hear from you.
"Officers have been visiting jewellery and second hand stores and images of the jewellery have been widely circulated."
The robbers are described as white and in their late teens to early 20s. One was around 5ft 4ins tall and wore a dark blue waterproof jacket. The other man was around 5ft 7ins tall, slim and wore a hooded jacket.
The attack took place on Friday, January 24, at just after 10am.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
