Man is rescued during Stourbridge gas leak

A man had to be rescued after gas leaked from a cooker inside his seventh floor flat in Stourbridge.

Fire crews smashed their way inside the property in Baylie Court in Green Street in the town's Old Quarter.

They pulled the man from his bed because he was asleep as his flat filled with gas at around 9.35am today.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene for the effects of gas inhalation but he did not require any hospital treatment.

Crews from Stourbridge fire station ventilated the flat before National Grid arrived to check the appliance.
