The 230-year-old Kidderminster firm today announced that it was in consultation about a 'handful' of possible job losses as part of attempts to streamline UK operations.

Last year Brintons invested £3 million and created dozens of jobs at its site in Stourport Road. The firm invested in new technology in a move which saw 35 jobs and five apprenticeships created.

Boss Don Coates said: "We are in the process of streamlining our UK operations. We need to make a handful of redundancies, but these are isolated and part of ensuring that we run the business in the most sensible way. More broadly, the business is in good shape. Our project pipelines are stronger than they have been for years and we are seeing exciting opportunities to grow, especially in the US – our largest market – and the Middle East."
