Military photograph scoops Star Witness top prize
Generations will never forget the sacrifices made by brave soldiers during the horrors of the First World War.
And now a keen photographer has captured an atmospheric image of a re-enactment that could have been lifted straight from the archives.
The military weekend at Cannock Chase saw hundreds of enthusiasts descend on the beauty spot to recreate battles from the Great War.
And Pam Archer, of Bloxwich, took the opportunity to photograph three men in uniform charging through the pouring rain. Her efforts have now won the Express & Star's December Star Witness £100 prize.

The mother of three and grandmother of two, has recently reduced her hours working at the Mirus Academy in Bloxwich to let her focus on her hobby.
She said: "There were some fantastic photographs sent in to the Express and Star and I found myself selfisly thinking, 'Oh I wish that I had taken that one, or this shot deserves to be picked out for a win'. And so receiving an email to say my photo of the re-enactment of the Great War had been chosen was also great too."! Thankyou!!
"Lots of people gathered to watch the re-enactment of the great war despite the weather and they too had a passion of recreating this scene to give us an insight of what was a reality back in 1914-18. This was part of a military weekend that takes place each year upon Cannock Chase."
Star Witness is going from strength to strength, with more images being submitted every month.
