Gun fired during 'targeted attack' on driver in Brierley Hill
A gun was fired during a 'targeted attack' on a man driving a car along a main road, police said today.
Officers closed off a section of Dudley Road, in Brierley Hill as an investigation was launched.
And police confirmed there was evidence to suggest a firearm had been discharged.
The road at the scene of a shooting has reopened as police investigations continue today.
The 34-year-old driver reported being attacked while driving his car at around 5am on Sunday. He was not injured.
Police lifted the cordon in place between the road's junctions with Level Street and Venture Way at 10pm last night.
Officers said they had been trawling CCTV and searching the area of Dudley Road closed off.
Inspector Jim Munro, from West Midlands Police Criminal Investigation Department, said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation and continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"There is evidence to suggest that a firearm was discharged. At this stage officers believe this was a targeted attack."
Police are still urging witnesses with any information to come forward on the 101 number.
Inspector Munro said officers believed it was an isolated incident.
