Russells Hall Hospital urges non-emergency patients to stay away
A hospital in the West Midlands is urging people with only life-threatening conditions to use its accident and emergency department today because of 'extreme' pressure on services.
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust has this lunchtime said Russells Hall Hospital is experiencing unprecedented pressure on its emergency services.
Chief executive Paula Clark has called on people not in a life-threatening situation to use their walk-in centre, GP or local pharmacist.
She said: "We are at level four capacity which means we have extreme pressure on our services, and so patients who come to our accident and emergency department will have a very long wait.
"We would urge patients to think twice before using the emergency services at Russells Hall Hospital."
