Two men charged with Tipton bookmakers burglary

Two unemployed men have been charged with burglary after a Tipton bookmakers' was targeted.

Officers were alerted by security staff to intruders at the Corals betting shop in Owen Street, just after 4.15am on Monday.

Alarms activated and police arrived on the scene just five minutes later, forcing the raiders to flee the bookmakers empty handed.

Mark Tibbs, 40 of Bloomfield Terrace, West Bromwich and Edward Preece 34 of Parkes Lane, Tipton were arrested nearby and taken into custody.

They were later charged with the burglary and bailed to appear at Sandwell Magistrates Court on January 9.

Inspector Dave Southam, from Sandwell Police, said: "Our officers were quickly at the scene and able to stop two men down the road who were suspected of involvement.

"Both were arrested and are now helping with our inquiries."
