Funeral date set for meningitis victim Mason Timmins
The funeral of a seven-year-old boy from Walsall who died after contracting meningitis will be held on Monday, his family announced today.
Mason Timmins, a pupil at Little Bloxwich Primary School, died at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke-on-Trent on December 10 after his parents Mark and Claire were forced to take the heartbreaking decision to allow his life support machine to be switched off. The youngster had been vaccinated against meningitis – but tragically, not the rare type which claimed his life.

Mr and Mrs Timmins have arranged his funeral for Monday. A hearse will take Mason from the family home in Walsall to arrive at Streetly Crematorium for 10am.
There will then be a service from 10am until 11am, followed by a celebration of his life at the One Man & His Dog pub on Bloxwich's Turnberry Estate.
Mrs Timmins said all who knew their son were welcome to attend the funeral service. "Everyone who knew what a great lad he was is invited to come along," she said. "They can wear black if they like but we also want people to feel they can wear bright colours – Mason's favourite colours were orange and pink."
Mr and Mrs Timmins paid tribute to their 'fantastic lad' in the days after his death and said his memory would live on.
