The attack happened at The Co-op in Coppice Farm Way, Willenhall.

Police were called to the store at around 4.15pm yesterday.

Deb Edmonds, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said: "Four men armed with crowbars went into the shop and stole a quantity of alcohol and cigarettes.

"A female member of staff was hit to the head but did not suffer serious injuries."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

It comes just 10 days after two other Co-op stores were targeted by thieves.

A gang of robbers, believed to be carrying weapons, struck at the store in Penn Road, Wolverhampton- just an hour after a Co-op branch in Tividale was hit.

It is not yet clear if the latest raid is linked to the others, which happened on December 5.
