Man jailed for stabbing pregnant woman in Kidderminster
A man who tried to murder a heavily pregnant woman by stabbing her in the stomach six times has been jailed for 15 years.
Victim Rachel Kane, who was seven months pregnant, suffered serious wounds in the attack by Andre Omar Smith but miraculously both she and her unborn child survived the ordeal.
She has since given birth to a healthy baby daughter.
Police were called to a terraced house in Lea Street, Kidderminster, at around 11.30pm on July 28 and found the injured 25-year-old woman.
She was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit
Smith, aged 24, of Hamstead Road, Great Barr, was arrested in Hagley a short time after the shocking attack on his former girlfriend.
He was jailed at Worcester Crown Court after admitting attempted murder.
