This striking scene over Brereton, near Rugeley, was captured on camera by freelance photographer Allan Williamson.

The photographer grabbed his camera after seeing the sunset cast a dramatic red glow over the village.

The 59-year-old took the photograph from his home in Hillside Close on Friday night.

He said: "I just looked up and saw this red glow in the sky. I love taking photographs of skies and skylines. It's just so beautiful."

Father-of-two Mr Williamson said the rolling skyline with its purple-tinged red and orange clouds had drawn a few people out of their homes to take a look. It was just one of those lovely dramatic scenes. It was lovely to be able to capture it. It didn't last very long so I was glad to catch it.

"I was just looking outside my window and this is what I saw, it's not something you see everyday."
