Woman cut free from car after Stourbridge crash
Two cars crashed at a busy road junction forcing fire crews to cut one injured passenger free.
Delays were caused in the aftermath of the accident outside the Crystal Leisure Centre in Bell Street, in Stourbridge.
Fire crews from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge stations were called at around 4.40pm yesterday to the accident near Stourbridge ring road.
The Renault Megane and Peugeot 206 shunted close to the entrance of the new Tesco underground car park.
A woman, aged in her 50s, who had been the front seat passenger was suffering from a suspected neck injury.
Fire crews removed the roof of the Renault using hydraulic cutting equipment to free her.
Paramedics were on standby to treat her before she was taken to Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment.
The driver of the Renault and two passengers in the Peugeot escaped injury but were checked over at the scene by paramedics.
The road was blocked for around an hour forcing cars to drive through the Tesco car park to ease traffic jams.
The accident has cleared shortly after 6pm.
Watch commander Rob Fullwood, from Stourbridge fire station, said: "We removed the roof as a precaution as the female was complaining of neck pain.
"It was a two-car shunt as one went into the back of the other."
The cause of the accident is not yet known.
Bystander Clive Smith, aged 68, of Hagley Road, Stourbridge, said: "I'd just been out shopping when I heard this bang as I walked around the corner.
"The fire engine was here very quickly. I just hope they are all ok."
