The £200,000 branch will open its doors at 7am on December 4. It will create 15 full-time and 10 part-time positions.

The franchise will be run by businessman Johnny Khag, who was born and raised in Alfred Street, which now makes up part of the New Square site.

Mr Khag set up as a Subway franchisee in 2005 and, with the outlet at New Square, will now run seven branches in the region.

Mr Khag said: "I'm so excited at the thought of opening another Subway on the site of my childhood home, where I have so many fantastic memories."
