Their work to put a smile on Shannon Mason's face has inspired her parents to join the charity to help make others' dreams a reality.

Shannon, aged 11, is the only youngster in the country to have a rare condition called fumarase deficiency.

It leaves her with some learning difficulties, difficulty talking and suffering from seizures. But being a boisterous youngster she wanted to play with her siblings Ryan-Lee, eight, and seven-year-old Lauren.

Parents Kellie Hale and Lee Mason, who are both full time carers, sought help to transform the garden at their home in Pine Close, Kingswinford.

They struck gold when a friend put them in touch with Tipton-based charity Love2Give – founded by Steve Grove and Pete Jackson – which takes on a host of projects to help those in need.

Around 20 volunteers embarked on a four-day transformation of the tired back garden to create a little oasis where the children can play.

A trampoline has been installed at ground level allowing Shannon, who attends Pens Meadow School, to simply walk on.

They have also put up a shelter suitable for all the youngsters to use in all weathers. Kellie said: "They have done so well it is unbelievable."

When the garden was unveiled they even invited ex-Aston Villa player Gary Shaw down who presented Lee, aged 30, with a football shirt.
