Housing development given the go ahead
A controversial development which would see new homes built on South Staffordshire green belt land has been approved.
The scheme for 19 affordable properties in Pattingham was passed at a meeting of the planning committee of South Staffordshire Council.
Around 50 residents packed into the council chamber to show their strength of feeling against the scheme which will see the houses built on land at Hall End Lane.
Campaigners claimed the site is at risk of flooding and there will be increased traffic as a result of the development. They also say that the school and local amenities will not be able to cope.
Huw Jones from Pattingham told the councillors: "This application has done untold damage in the village of Pattingham. Residents feel hoodwinked and betrayed."
