Landlady Trina Keane and her partner Eddy Morton today said it was a 'disaster' for David Murphy's Free House and Café Bar, in Stourbridge, to close.
Miss Keane launched the totally vegetarian pub, in Worcester Street, and named it after her father using money left in his will to finance the project.
Administrators Philip Lyon and Simon Chandler of accountants Mazars have been appointed to manage the company Katie Fitzgerald's Ltd which ran David Murphy's.
They say there are two potential buyers but admitted the pub may be redeveloped.
