Wolverhampton care home under fire as inspection finds problems
A care home has been issued a formal warning by the national regulator over poor standards.
During an unannounced visit, Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors found that Min-Y-Don, in Tettenhall, was failing to protect residents against receiving unsafe care or treatment.
The inspectors also found that the care home was not protecting residents against risks associated with poor management of medicines. The care home company, which is registered as
West Midlands Residential Care Homes Limited, was ordered to make improvements or face further action.
The Clifton Road facility has space for up to 26 patients. Inspectors spoke to three of the 11 living there at the time of their visit, as well as to staff and visitors.
The CQC report said: "We had concerns that people's care plans did not always cover some of their specific health care needs, such as epilepsy. There were areas where the home's medication management needed to improve so that people were protected against the associated risks."
Director Hari Bala, the care home's provider, said improvements had been made since the visit. He said: "We are working very closely with Wolverhampton City Council's quality assurance and all the recommendations have now been met." The visit was on July 24 and management had until September 20 to turn things around.
