Classic cars drive Baggeridge show success
Car enthusiasts came from near and far to show off their classic vehicles at a show at Baggeridge Country Park.
From Volkswagen Camper Vans to Ford Capris, around 80 cars were on display at the park's Classic Car Show on Sunday.
The show, in its 10th year, saw the vintage cars lined up on the park's car park, while visitors browsed around them and spoke to the owners.
The event helped the park attract more than 1,500 people on the day.
Organiser Dave Daly, who also runs the Baggeridge Tea Rooms, said: "It was fantastic this year. We had the weather on our side, which saw many more people turn out for it.
"We hold the event not just for car enthusiasts to show off their cars but to make people aware of the park.
"It's easy to forget you are in the Black Country when you are standing in the 160 acres of beautiful parkland here."
Among the exhibitors was Vaughan Horden, who displayed his 1968-built Mini, built in Cowley in Oxfordshire. The decorator bought the car aged 19 – and has kept it ever since after predicting the vehicle would one day be a classic car.
Mr Horden, aged 49, of Rangeways Road, Stourbridge, said: "It was bought because it was cheap and economical, but I never thought I'd be showing it off at classic car shows 30 years later."
Colin Dulson, aged 66, a motor shop worker from Dudley, drove his VW Camper Van to the event. The van was made in 1962 and is a split windscreen model. The model stopped being made in 1967.
